WCGA

About Us

Our Mission

Since it was founded in 1903, the WCGA’s mission has been to connect, empower, and grow female company secretaries and governance professionals. We support professional development through meaningful relationships, shared knowledge, and inspiring events. Through a blend of in-person and virtual events, we create spaces where women can elevate their careers, expand their networks, and thrive as current or future leaders in governance.

To bring this mission to life, we focus on three strategic areas:

Cultivating a welcoming community of peers and mentors to ensure no-one navigates their governance career alone.

Providing the tools, confidence, and visibility necessary for female company secretaries to navigate their careers – whatever stage this might be.

Facilitating continuous learning through a variety of events that adapt to the evolving corporate landscape.

What we stand for

Core Values

Integrity in Leadership

As governance professionals, we uphold the highest ethical standards. We believe that true leadership is rooted in transparency, accountability, and the courage to do what is right for the organisations we serve.

Continuous Collaboration

We move further when we move together. We foster an environment of "community over competition," where knowledge is shared freely and every member’s success is celebrated as a win for the collective.

Inclusive Excellence

We embrace diversity in all its forms across industries, backgrounds, and career stages. We are committed to creating an accessible space where every female governance professional feels seen, heard, and valued.

Forward-Thinking Resilience

We value agility and lifelong learning, equipping our members to not only navigate the complexities of today’s regulatory landscape but to shape the governance standards of tomorrow.

Why It Matters

In an increasingly complex regulatory and governance landscape, the role of the company secretary is constantly evolving yet governance teams are often small. Having access to a supportive and collaborative network of peers is essential for professional resilience and development.
